Book Day. Is Wednesday good for you?

So, Book Week Report for the Class of '23. Although most Book Week Days were on the Thursday (with some school doing their own thing other days), Wednesday, as in Wednesday Addams, daughter of Morticia and Gomez, was proving very popular. Becoming very much the Harry Potter of the moment, and with certain similarities (Boarding School, Tick, Supernatural Events, Tick,), most costume outlets around the country report high demand for this character: Once a member of a cartoon family, darkly drawn by Charles Addams for the New Yorker Magazine and subsequent cartoon collections, Wednesday has become a breakout star thanks to the Tim Burton helmed series for Netflix. With a second series due, easy to see who'll be popular next Halloween.

On a more general level, as we've said before, the concept of a Book Character seems have been lost and this year more than ever the event seems to be getting more like Comic-con than a celebration of literary works. Not just fro children, either. Requests included Austin Powers, Indiana Jones, Lara Croft and the Simpsons: Whereas once it was DVDs and Videos, the new age of streaming means access is available to a vast range of characters, and not always age-appropriate ones. A few years ago we had an eight year-old wanting to do a character from Pulp Fiction!
